The City of Stars
by Meg Smith
The solar array sets upon the sound.
In reflecting lights
of a thousand windows,
in blue, green, and fire,
cocktail glasses shimmer,
jokes spill, hearts break.
From our balcony, we will
toast the searing jets,
your promotion, or perhaps mine,
or our friends, getting engaged, at last.
Even time flashes and falls here,
in a twilight sigh.
