Modern Art

by Mike Berger

I was ruminating over the art on the wall;
trying to make sense of modern art. Strange,
reality reduced to cubes.

Suddenly, I realized I wasn't alone. Standing
beside me was this hideous creature. It was
bright purple with yellow stripes. It was something
out of a bad dream.

It had six arms but only one leg. It hopped around
to move. It's one bloodshot eye look like a cantaloupe.
It had two holes for ears.

It had a strong fruity smell much like burgundy wine.
It stared intently at the pictures on the wall. Then in
a mechanical voice it said, "Don't you just love
this stuff?"
