The Dying Astronaut

by Thomas D Reynolds

When the room turns cold,
I’ll feed dreams into the flames
Like sticks of wood.

When the stove darkens,
I’ll stir the coals of my desire.
Fanning the flames
Of all I wanted to be and do.

That distant star,
The one I’m moving toward,
Will keep me warm.
