Vampire Rensaku

a linked verse of haiku

by Meaghan Clyne

I tend a dark bar
where you visit for a drink
not of wine, but heart.

I pour out that heart.
It plops upon the carpet.
You don't pick it up.

One part of me wants
to tell you that you are wrong;
One part knows you're right.

A love clothed in
darkness, brought into the light
is forever gone.

You said you saw her
again. Your smile so joyful.
My smile, happy lie.

I do not love you;
I only wanted to love.
Dreams! Best unspoken.

I must believe that
you're not who I thought you were.
He would still love me.

I wish who you are,
and who I dream you are, meet
and like each other.

Like the late, great Doctor Asimov, Meaghan wants to see more poetry in the science-fiction genre.
