Here Comes The Yellow King

by Terence Chua

To the Tune of "Dancing Queen" by Abba

In the light of the moon
We'll all be worshipping soon
Pallid mask, death takes wing
Here comes the Yellow King

Beltane's here and the moon is bright
This time round all the stars are right
When we play the right music
Something's gonna give
What is now dead shall live

Everybody is getting high
Chanting loud while the victims cry
With a bit of night music
He'll be breaking free
Through this dimension's veil
Now hear his mournful wail

Here comes the Yellow King
Hear him sing
As the madness rings
Yellow King
Feel the sweet fatal gift he brings oh yeah

In the light of the moon
We'll all be worshipping soon
Pallid mask, death takes wing
Here comes the Yellow King

He will lead in the final dance
Take the steps or you'll lose your chance
In a swirl of chaos
Now the world will see
Just sweet insanity
And in this ecstasy

Here comes the Yellow King
Hear him sing
As the madness rings
Yellow King
Feel the sweet fatal gift he brings oh yeah

In the light of the moon
We'll all be worshipping soon
Pallid mask, death takes wing
Here comes the Yellow King

Terence burst onto the filking scene in 1999 when he attended his first Worldcon, introducing the world to the blasphemous concept of Lovecraftean songs based on ABBA tunes. Since then he has been steadily writing more songs, both parodies and originals, both twisted and sublime. His lament for the space program, "Once We Were Eagles," won first place in the 2001 Songwriting Contest at FilkOntario in March. He will be attending Worldcon 2001 in Philadelphia this year as well as being the Interfilk guest at the Ohio Valley Filk Festival in October.
