Ghost Wind

by Teri Wachowiak

Inspired by the Darkover novels by Marion Zimmer Bradley

Planets, stars, they change with time,
And none can say there's no reason, rhyme,
That they can't alter or grow, adjust,
The conscious steps to do what they must.

And new life grows when the
Ghost wind blows,
And the sun's rays warm the day,
Be it good or ill, it will work its will,
Where our people came to stay.

A brutal wind acting in a cause,
Perhaps it followed some natural laws,
To work its will by a careful plan,
And it claimed our people every woman, man.

And new life grows when the
Ghost wind blows,
And the sun's rays warm the day,
Be it good or ill, it will work its will,
Where our people came to stay.

A dying world and blood red star,
We were taken, changed into what we are.
An equation altered when we came to land,
We were new material now come to hand.

And new life grows when the
Ghost wind blows,
And the sun's rays warm the day,
Be it good or ill, it will work its will,
Where our people came to stay.

And who's to say that we were not used,
To a tired world we were but tools,
The ghost wind took us for greater needs,
And the planet prospered by its airborne seeds.

And new life grows when the
Ghost wind blows,
And the sun's rays warm the day,
Be it good or ill, it will work its will,
Where our people came to stay.
