Hello and welcome to the April 2022 issue of Aphelion!

I have finished the Tom Darby prequel novel and sent it to my publisher! Consequently, I am back at work on the fantasy novel now. I'm giving it a complete read-through to get back into the character voices and reacquaint myself with the world-building. It feels wonderful to be productive again!

Aphelion is still in need of a Short Story Editor following Devin having stepped down from the position during the holiday season. I must say, the quality of submissions has been very high. I've hardly had to make any changes to anyone's work at all; a few typos, a few grammar blips, a missing word here or there--almost nothing, in fact. However, I am under no illusions that I am the best person for the job. The duties are; recieve the submissions VIA e-mail, read them through, contact the writers about any major critiques and commentary you may have, do the minor edits, lay out the HTML coding as per the page templates we use, put the links to the page URL on the short story section page, upload the files, and check for any broken links. Time-consuming, but easily done. Contact us if you're interested.

Spring seems to have sprung in Northeast Georgia. Pollen is beginning to coat every surface in sight. Warm days and cool nights are once again the norm--although we have had a LOT of rain. Situation normal, in fact, despite the excess rain, LOL!

As for Mare Inebrium news; My publisher has asked me for a second collection of my Mare Inebrium stories, as well as asking me to edit an anthology of Mare stories by other authors. If you have any way to get in contact with any of the writers of our Mare Inebrium Shared Universe stories, please do and tell them I need to talk with them. Most especially Wishbone, as Bill Wolfe has contacted me last week. I've gotten several positive responses from writers I am still in contact with, so things look fairly good at this point. One writer even did a complete rewrite of his original story, since he has learned a great deal since it irst saw print. If you're a Mare Inebrium writer still visiting Aphelion after all this time, please do get in contact with me through e-mail or Facebook Messenger. We have a lot to talk about!

I hope that I'll be able to finally put our little greenhouse together here at Casa Vila. My wife has been very patient, but I'l starting to chafe at the bit just a little, myself. We won't attempt too many vegies at first. Once we figure out what we can and cannot grow in an 8'x8' greenhouse, we'll go from there. Tomatoes, peppers, beans, leaf lettuce, spinach, and maybe a couple of other things will be in raised beds and planters inside the greenhouse. We're looking forward to it.

With all that said, it's high time I shut up and let you get to reading.

Enjoy yourselves,

Dan
