Dots

by Murray Eiland

In the vast expanse of the universe, dots dance,
Merging into lines, creating intricate patterns.
Shapes take form, colors intertwine,
Expanding and unfolding, never confined.

I close my eyes, the shapes transform,
Into bustling cities, alive and warm,
Time races by, seconds like ages,
Changing hues, evolving through stages.

People scurry by, too small to see,
Building and tearing down with glee,
Creating, destroying, in a constant flow,
Yet the dots remain, in their steady glow.

I focus my gaze, on myself, a tiny dot,
Amidst the sea of dots, never forgot,
Static but creating, everything I see,
A part of this grand tapestry.

Looking up, I see stars and dots above,
Ships carrying them, spreading love,
Stations built, more dots emerge,
Forming new shapes, a cosmic surge.

At first, shapes familiar, earthly in kind,
But soon they evolve, leaving behind,
New worlds, new cities, a fresh perspective,
A universe of dots, endlessly creative.

As I marvel at the beauty around,
I realize the power of these dots abound,
Minds that resist, that build, that dream,
Creating a world, beyond what it seems.

I embrace the dots, the lines, the shapes,
In this vast cosmic dance, my soul escapes,
To a realm of endless possibilities,
Where dots and dreams, blend in harmonies.
