Lonely

(with a tip of the space helmet to Fredric Brown)

by

Thomas Wm. Hamilton

The last man on Earth sat alone in his room.  There was a knock on the door....

He yelled "It's not locked.  Come on in."

The last woman on Earth opened the door.  "I know I said I wouldn't have you if you were the last man on Earth.  I've changed my mind."

THE END

The author is a retired astronomer who worked on the Apollo Project for three years, then taught astronomy and ran planetariums for 32 years.  He is the author of five published books on astronomical topics, one time travel novel, and an anthology of SF, fantasy, satire and horror.
