Joan of Arc

by Jean Jones

Joan of Arc had hair longer
than the stakes that covered the ground in all of France.
She had hair blacker than the smoke that covered the skies in Compiègne.
She had a body strong enough to be whipped.
She had breasts warm enough to peel and twist with smoke.
Her eyes bristled with the voices of St Michael, and before she died, He told her to send all light straight back up to the skies.
It never came back.
