Cosmic Rerun

by Robin B. Lipinski

New today, looking through the lens
Scoping out the Universe
Viewing a billion years in a second.

Nostradamus, Aristotle, Hubble, and children sleeping under while viewing
the stars.

Mayan calendar, Stonehenge; cultures always tuned into this fascination
A space filled with twinkles.

All around and around all, it seems the stars circle
Guided by a fickle moon
Held stable by the rhymes of solar cycles
The picture seems wonderful.

Passing comet or shooting star
Planet being kissed by asteroids and stardust
For billions of years the picture seems the same
-unlike television reruns filled with new commercials-
I wonder, does God too, get bored?

Is there a remote to end it all, or maybe, change the picture?

Oblivion.
