Thinking of you after watching Dracula again

by Jean Jones

I find myself
Writing to you,
after watching Dracula again—

Bela Lugosi
as Dracula
portrays a creature

driven by blood,
or is it sex?
They seem the same to me—

Is all that we think about,
connected
to the act itself?

You know what you need,
and I need the act,
and that's the extent of it, right?

But, don't you feel lonely though,
and would you like to
hang out,

after the act,
to talk,
to be together ,

in each other's company,
don't you think?
Aren't you lonely too?

I am.
In this house,
I need the act,

but more than that,
I need you, too—
I need you to talk

to me, as well—
I need you
to feel appreciated.
