Re: October Flash Challenge Results

Once again, thanks! "Have you stopped beating your children yet?" - I guess not.
Here's my thoughts on the stories:
The infamous serial - The title kind of bothered me, I wasn't certain a curse word was necessary although it did convey the author's disdain for the main character of the story. I thought too much time was spent on ghosts - when we weren't suppose to use ghosts. I thought the woods itself finally killed the evil man, so I would have spent more time on that angle. I liked the depressing qualities to the ghosts and the woods - it's autumn and everything is dieing.
A Walk on an October's Night: I voted for this one because it was current and walking around seeing decorations is what people do. I liked the main character writing a story reflecting what his girlfriend jokes about happening. It was a campfire story, fun to read.
Dark Forces: I loath the campaign ads and all the horrible things going on, so I guess I was looking more for common recreation instead of any story circling around the campaign. It's interesting to see the campaign as a vehicle for otherworldly entities to play in our business, but I'm just too tired of the verbal fighting to not be numb by now.
Beanie: I wrote this one. What I was trying to do was give satisfaction to all the persons scarred by sexual abuse. What if children had a best friend who would protect them if someone hurt them. Maybe we all need a Beanie sometime.
All Hallows: I'm just not into necrophilia. This reminded me of The Fall of the House of Usher, which is Poe, whom I love of course - especially around Halloween. Perhaps it would have been more effective if the mourner had seen a witch who gave him a potion to bring his love back to life physically for one night - even in her mummified state. The language was very thick, which could work, but I was shopping for something more light-hearted, more campy.
Thanks for all the spooky stories. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Michele Dutcher (bottomdweller)

Congratulations on the win Mom. Looks like I'll have to try harder next time. Speaking of... what's next? Are we doing a Thanksgiving story this month? Or is there something more adventurous waiting in the winds?
