First There was Darkness by Susan Anwin

Wow, lots of fun! Sort of an afterlife kind of thing. I especially like how the first line followed the title. Great piece of flash writing. Thanks!
I was raised by humans. What's your excuse?

I agree! Great first line and a nice succinct twist. Nice philosophical food for thought as well.

Re: First There was Darkness by Susan Anwin

I stumbled all over the (some more) part of the first line. It just read choppy to me. The rest of the opening paragraph was a nice creepy WTF just happened kinda feel.

Was the sing song in this section intentional? (my first instinct was to flee, lest I draw the attention of those cyclopean creatures to me and be squashed like a flea)
Bad luck is better than no luck at all.
