Aphelion's Shared Series Offerings

Looking for something different to read?

For any of our newer users, you might not have noticed, but Aphelion has THREE different shared universes that anyone can write a story in: Dan's Mare Inebrium, Nightwatch, and The Aphelion Project.

There, you will find between them approximately 100 stories you can read of varying size from flash to novel.

The Mare Inebrium is a spaceport bar. Many different beings come and go, and most have a story to tell.

Nightwatch are tales of a mild-mannered civil engineer who becomes a secret agent, of sorts, to repeatedly save the world, and often, the whole universe.

The Aphelion Project is about a dozen astronauts on the first manned mission to Mars, one plagued with hardships, spies, and murder.

All of these are a lot of fun, and if you become inspired, you can write your own piece to join them. Check out our 'Series' page for more details.

The three shared universe series are part of what makes Aphelion appeal to so many readers. There are years worth of stories in those archives. Explore them, and be entertained!

The first step is to Turbo Boost the relevance!

Shared Universes are fascinating, because a *severe* problem in Fiction is "well, somehow none of us know each other".

It's an ... Artifact ... and not such a good one, ... of Publishing Logistics.

but I have been studying for aa while, "Components of Grand Ideas", Philosopher and Academic Researcher Daniel Dennett worked on it for ... Fair and Solid ... amount of time, but he is ... no longer a youthful man.

Embodied Component of Thought, yep, "We Agree", but his lead example was a Register Machine headed towards the Math side of the proof.

I feel Writers Feel/Think about Stuff.

Well.. Stuff!

And some of us can barely handle it, but on some good days we can.

Try the phrase "Projective Casting".

Wouldn't we want to see the Senior Administrative Assistant to Susan Calvin of Isaac Asimov Robot fame, "hang out with pizza then go on stage" with the Temple Assistant to Apollo!?

"Bread with Cheese, Zeus lighninng bolt spread low... okay, seems palatable enough ... and then ... we are both employed in a pair of enterprises neither of us will be remembered for, but your Robots can help My God!?"

"...We might have to do some Thought."
