Loose Contact By Sidney Toby

The universe, run by committee? An interesting setup, and an interesting situation; I particularly liked the question at the end. "It was all a dream" is a difficult ending to make work, but in this case "it might have all been a dream for all I can tell" is a very believable ending indeed.

A good story.

I like the tension about: is the person dreaming? or are they crazy? or are they really connecting with an outside force?
I've used my dreams a lot as a baseline for creating a story.
This story seemed a bit preachy to me...like people who claim aliens have abducted them and told them to tell the world not to use atomic weapons. I think a chemistry professor could use more scientific facts to gear up his story.
Just a thought.

This one did nothing for me. The conversation was a bit strange in that the Controller makes contact, but for what reason? And then lets the other guy direct the conversation wherever he will.

And I can't see any real point to the story. Sorry.

I liked the format in this one. It is alway interesting to read conversation between two beings especially when one is an alien.

As to whether the universe is run by a committee, all I can say is that I hope it isn't. You see, at work one time our corporate committees decided to have a down-sizing and ....

Over-all, nice wiriting.
