Dragon Fodder by J. Eckert Lytle

Read the title carefully. I enjoyed this story, and its sentiment doesn’t get in its way. There is a passing mention of Detroit, but there seems to be no particular location. Detroit may be the recurring reference to fine old cars.
Mr. Lytle deepens Fred’s characterization by contrasting him to several other speakers. In his encounters with Authority (doctor), Family (son), and Science (professor), Fred’s innate common sense and skepticism shine through.
