The Next Evolutionary Generation by Richard Tornello
This poem brings to mind so many sci-fi moments: I Robot; Bladerunner. Humanity seems doomed to give birth to a race of immortals, but what will they eventually think of their fragile parents? Will we even be here to direct their footsteps when they reach their stride, taking on the universe, leaving their birthplace behind? Immortality: ultimate advantage or simply an inability to die, leaving room for the next generation?
Since the house is on fire - at least let us warm ourselves.
