The Robots in Gomorrah by John M Marshall

This month’s silent theme seems to be robots, and their ability to outlive us.
Why should we fear what we build? – unless we fear what is in ourselves.
Sure incidents may happen, but on the whole robots may find that humans are their truest allies. It is too easy to say that they’ll end up revolting against us, or outlive us with glee in their hearts. Soon they will be among us, humanity’s children, caring for us as we care for them, but we can only love others as much as we love ourselves.
Why do we search the dark, cold recesses of the universe for beings to ease our loneliness when soon our children – these robots – will be here with us? We are joyous midwives who fear the pain of the birthing, having faith that soon, we’ll hold our iron children in our arms.
Since the house is on fire - at least let us warm ourselves.
