Wow, excellent poem. Easy to read, but it really goes deep. Well done.

Okay, I don't understand the title, but I like this poem's basic theme. In a way, we do drag along with us the entire history of humans: superstition, glory, hunger - it's all as close as three sentences away. Good choice!
Since the house is on fire - at least let us warm ourselves.

I'm reading into it, the "never turning back of time" aspect. I've been following the Big-Brotherization of the world, and I can't yet see how we'll escape from the slow spiral of just staring at each other in a World-Become-Fishbowl. Elsewhere in this week's news: The FBI routed website traffic for a site through its own servers so it could plant its own web cookie for its own ends.

Our tax dollars at work -- and they couldn't have spent 'em better! ('Cause they wouldn't know HOW.)

P.S. -- I thought the poem is referring to wars -- seems pretty obvious -- but it's not too hard to pull more meaning out.
