The City of Never by Roland Allnach

Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair . . .

This is a tale of a monster, and of his ambition for accomplishment, and the cruel manipulation he used to attempt that accomplishment. And, it is about his ultimate failure, his downfall being the consequence of his own hubris.

Deep stuff here, lurking below the surface. The author's bio says he takes inspiration from mythology, and indeed, this story has a powerful mythological subtext.

Deftly handled and impressive, and an object lesson to those who might let their ambitions overwhelm their humanity.
I was raised by humans. What's your excuse?

Thanks for the kind words on my story! This wasn't an easy piece to put together, but as the saying goes, it was the effort that made it so enjoyable. I'm glad that translated through the words and out from the story. Being honored as one of Aphelion's Best for 2011 puts a cherry on the cake.
