Turning Point By Kevin Gordon

This one's solid. Funny thing is, sometimes all those space fleet storie are solid. It feels like a prologue that could easily morph into a whole second story.

I felt the same way. The story is easily a stand alone, but it could easily be the starting point for a few others. The world the author has hinted at sounds interesting as well.
