The Changeling by K. A. Masters
Short one but interesting and rather captivating. I believe this might be a scene from a novel in the works, but I’m not sure.
Very good writing but the storytelling a little short.
One criticism is sensory input. If the merman’s tail was seared then possibly a slight reek would permeate the air. Other parts of the story might also be improved with some sensory input. A little sensory goes a long way, but like all other techniques it must be used judiciously.
I liked the twist on the oak tree!!
Nice little one!
