It must be done

Yes, it must. There is no 'sorry', no know nothing. Not withstanding, it must.

Duality

By split personality.

Dimensions seen, felt, smelt swimming odor sensed as wave smashed your unconsciousness away.
Boat riding the muddy bay bottom, ridden down by your drunken haze.
"One more beer here," spoken by the other, your other, you partake.
***
Storm rising, pressure falling, bow splitting a sailors watery grave.
"Frank! Watch out!" Last words from last love, she too, drowned amongst your memories.
"One more beer here," words louder than hers.
***
Fingers, always rely on fingers to bring you relief.
Raise the glass high while winds howl high above the mizzen.
Screaming banshee. Screaming wind. Screaming love. Screaming into history.
***
Fingers, always the devil's fingers, crawling among crab, sand, and ocean debris.
Fingers crawling, pulling the other body away from the sea.
Fingers cold, clammy, numbing sense.
***
"Oh God, I'm sorry," you heard the other you say.
"What have I done!" your exclamations become boring, trying to overpower the waves.
Calmness enters the fingers, extracting the other pathetic you away.
***
Crawling away like a crab from deathly remains, you smile, you have control, you know.
Nothing, not even "I'm sorry," can keep you away from your drink.
***
The end

Merlin's Herpesviridae

By the old Goat had style

Ages past, magic masked, Merlin's beard hid the smile.
Ages past, magic marked, Merlin's dalliance with the girls.
Ages past, magic made music to sweep the young to bed.
***
King Arthur warned his sage. Warning led to show the reason.
King Arthur, young himself, aged until the table died.
King Arthur, dust of his own warning, or was it Merlin casting rage?
***
Ages past, the story is told.
Ages past, Lady of the Lake did hold, Merlin's life bewitched?
No.
No.
No.
Again, for the record, no.
Poppycock.
Balderdash.
Folly.
Old wives tale.
Can you understand what's said?
***
Merlin met his fate, his wench, it is no fiction or fable.
With his passion sated, his friends warning came to haunt his head.
This Lady of the Lake did hold, a magical herpesviridae.
***
Ashamed of what history would show, Merlin turned to stone.
Hiding in the English Isles, contemplating the cure, he simmers at edge of sea, watching a sun rise, set.
There is no cure yet, none will avail, only through magic and time will Merlin learn the true meaning of venereal.

Therein release the Demon inside.
Page by page, it burns.
Can you feel it assistant to assistant to assistant to assistant to editor?
***
This one is for you.
Needle pricking deep inside your doll.
Wax melting your forehead away.
May you find your own personal hell pleasant.
You would, if I had a say.

Heaven

By when Hell freezes over

Cherubim.
Seraphim.
Little winged wonders with clouds at their feet.
***
"Try hard young man. Be good and die well. One day you'll go to heaven, be bad, Hell is where you'll see."
Do this.
Do that.
Say, "Thanks."
Say, "Please."
***
All this courtesy, this niceness, politeness...Battering-ram my thoughts of sleaze.
Pleasure.
Desire.
Stimulate the endorphins, stoke the fire of pleasure, flames burning bright.
Now we're talking!
Heaven is growing dimmer in my sight.
***
Gluttony.
Pride.
OK, it will do, but I much prefer wanton, lust, carnal, and other words I can't repeat.
***
When a man is young and creative, spying female of the same, what else but thoughts of passions to tingle with possibilities?
Sigh, back now to the world.
Back to reality.
Back to saying, "Please, thank you, you're welcome."
Back to growing older with age.
***
Youth is for tempting the angels, teasing the demons in hell, doing whatever you please.
Old age is for contemplation, forgiveness, regrets, and redemption.
Which is why I will never age.
***
Sixteen, my age for ages.
Sixteen, forever I shall be.
At least it is nice to dream.

Sawmill Blues

By carpenter ants have nothing on me

Bzzzzzz...
Ripping wood for profit did he.
Tree blood dripping.
Bark slipping.
Raindrops falling.
Sawmill howling.
***
Board after board fell from the carriage.
Bored from standing afoot, feeding the hungry steel.
Board after board added profit, a profit to make the man happy, Joe was his name.
***
"Joe, come in fer dinner, land sakes, give it a break," a lady brave enough to marry Joe, Mary was her name.
"I'll be there when I be there, I got board's ta make."
***
Rain fell harder.
Sawdust mixed with it beneath.
Time flew by faster, faster, faster.
Mary grew impatient, it was time to eat.
***
At just the right moment.
At just the right time.
Just as Joe finished, the wood had it's pleasure.
***
Ka-Pow! Rang the steel as the blade broke in half.
Ceramic spike implanted to wood broke the blade in half.
Courtesy of an eco-terrorist, trying to save a tree as if they were saving a life.
***
Plunging deep in the heart of Joe did steel go, causing a reaction.
"Oh Mary, I'm done for, it's the end of my life."
***
The sawmill is quiet, rains settled down.
Tree blood mixed with rain turned red, as Joe fell down.
Tree is dead.
Joe is dead.
Mary weeps at the scene.
It all sounds very tragic, yet in the distance, a beaver looks pleased.

Dipnet

By a tired Red and unsuccessful King

Kenai River running cold, running gray.
Mountains of ice melting, melting to carry smolt away.
Cycle of life interacting with the cycle of me.
***
Long was the winter, now waiting in temporary warmth for more.
As season's change so too do fish, struggling in ocean waters to grow and succeed.
They sought refuge in numbers, in waters dark and deep, growing, waiting, to again come to me.
***
Today was the day, tide high just before it recedes, the bag of the net bit the water, thirsty in greed.
"Fish on," was the shout as Red's hit the web, tangled, turning red as their blood spilled.
One after the other, the pile of fish grew.
One after the other, the metal bound net did feed.
***
"Five more to go then we're through."
One after the other, our number grew.
"One-hundred and four, one more then we're through."
***
One-hundred large fish fed full and plump, lay cold upon our cold deck.
One-hundred large fish, once so full of life, lay as a warm memory as our family's would be fed.
One-hundred-five and he broke my net.
***
Chinook.
King.
Onkos- rynchos, tshawytscha, or whatever kingly word you choose to use.
***
Smashing hard into the hoop he sped, running full speed away from the seal.
A bloody gash on his side, he tore my net.
With a shout, aid was called, friends turned, hands reached, webbing grasped, the King failed.
***
One-hundred-four Red's are tired and in the freezer.
One King succeeded in escaping the seal, destroyed the web yet still failed.
One-hundred-five fish are frozen in silence, awaiting this winter to be a warm memory as our family's are fed.

Highway meeting

By you never know what will happen

Gravel stone or melted asphalt, heading North to South.
Divided by yellow dashes to let the drivers know.
Night or day, it never ends, car after car passes.
***
Born earlier last year, it was her first.
A meeting with him led to the calf growing, to a pending birth.
In early season, it was almost time for the miracle of life to happen.
***
Spring: Season of change.
April: Moose calving begins.
May: There he lay, this little fellow, a new young bull waiting to grow.
June: Walking now, there is joy in his jumping.
***
The smooth path of man became more and more traveled.
The growth of the calf sped up like the lupine color was showing.
The season of summer is here.
***
One after another, they came and they went, traveling like tourist's possessed.
At this time, the sun never sets.
Yet night, be it bright, a person still sleeps.
***
Swerving the RV, the tired man awoke, just in time to see the cow moose mother standing.
Thump! A simple sounding word, meaning death for the mother as she now lay on the ground.
Young bull running away, running to meet his new fate as his mother had been taken away.
***
Nothing in the North is wasted.
Not life or death.
Not even leaves on a tree.
Not even the dead cow moose.
Now resting on my plate mixed with mushroom gravy.

Remember the scene in Tim Burton's "Mars Attacks!" when the Martian shakes hands with the President (played by Jack Nicholson) -- and his (the Martian's) hand detaches, runs up Nicholson's arm, and stabs him in the heart with a scorpion-tail-like appendage?

(This is a variation on the old "So, Captain, you won't meet my demands..." (BANG!) "Mr. First Officer, I believe you are in charge now. Will you be taking the same position as the late Captain?" scene in more than one movie.)
You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.

Politics

By a three-ring circus run by monkeys

"Vote for me, I'm the one!"

Renew.
Prosper, jobs, and growth.
Crowds growing, emotions boiling, it's getting close.

Kissing ladies.
Kissing ass for a vote.

Gender confused.

Socialist.
Communist.
Royalty.
Tea party.
Independent.
Or whatever banner burns, the aliens only concentrated on their personal intent.

With the milling mass of humans screaming.

It is nice to see that the aliens love to eat the big-headed, loud mouthed ones, with their fancy degree's and political pedigree.
I think I'll cast my vote for them.
