April 2018 Flash Contest (Part 2) - The Premise
A Fantasy, Science Fiction or Horror Fiction Writing Contest.
Conceptually Envisioned by Lester Curtis
The Premise:
The premise of this contest is about the turning point moments in people's lives that lead to irreversible consequences.
The following are examples that may be used, but are not required.
(A.) Shooting a burglar in the dark, but actually killing a family member instead.
(B.) Pressing enter on a computer keyboard setting off a false alarm concerning an incoming missile that leads to war. This one was clipped from current newspaper headlines.
(C.) Saying the word divorce to a spouse in the heat of anger that sets the process in motion.
The best mistakes are the ones never made.
Your mission is to write a story with a set of circumstances that include a mistake that has dire consequences.
The Rules:
01. Stories submitted must be under 1,000 words.
02. No "overt" sex, violent acts or foul language. Keep events subtle (making use of clever and indirect methods to achieve your plot and story).
03. Formatting: Only bold or italics can be used in a story. Block your paragraphs without indenting using a space between each paragraph. No images allowed in story submission.
04. Feel free to comment on the stories and writing topics in general throughout the story writing and voting time periods.
05. If you have something unfavorable to say about a story, make it constructive, so the author can benefit from your viewpoint and insight.
06. Never speak negative about the authors themselves.
Timelines
The writing period will begin on Sunday April 15, 2018 and will end on Saturday April 21, 2018.
The voting period will begin for 1 week and commence on Sunday April 22, 2018 and end on Saturday April 28, 2018.
The results will be posted after the voting has concluded.
