Lipinski: What a Fine Ending You Have
Lipinski's last line in Rock on Space is "as the asteroid beats some humility into humanity." From the near ricochet of humility and humanity and its take-no-prisoners bravura, this Last Line is a clinic in and of itself on how to finish a poem with a mike drop. I know there are literary guides out there that have collected the great opening lines/leads of literature, but I have yet to see a volume of the best closings of all time.
Perhaps, I'll take that up as a challenge (we're frozen in here in Chicago). Thanks R.L. – you gave me something to ponder here in my apartment/igloo.
