Louise of Liverpool by TS Kay

This story has great pacing: it moves forward at a steady pace, I never feel like it lags, and it doesn't rush the ending which makes the ending feel substantial and rewarding.

I would have liked to have seen more showing of the character development than telling. Though in its own way it was a nice bit of misdirection, telling us all about Kennard and his people and Louise, and then Sheridan comes up the real hero of the story.

It was a nice twist. Not completely unpredictable, but not too obvious either.
