Time-Stealers by Frazer MacDonald

I thought the constant references to the passage of time ("two weeks later," "three hours earlier," etc.) were a nice touch. They made me feel un-tethered and off-kilter. I also liked the introduction to Klonopin at the start of the story as a nice bit of misdirection so the first time I read it through I thought the Klonopin was to make the hallucinations better.

Those little things gave the story a nice structure and drew me in.

And the ending is haunting. He's survived this time, but what about next time, or the time after that.
