Crystal Ball by Daniel C. Smith

This reminded me of Lucifer's Hammer or Childhood's End. I mean not as subtle and not quite as secular as either of them, but I see the same type of connection between the scientific and religious belief--the tension. Daniel has a good voice; it could be a touch less preachy but I did like the character development. How much pride can blindly lead us down the wrong path.

Not a bad story as such. I particularly liked the way the author made
the actions and decisions of the protagonists believable.

But why oh why had someone have to come up with the nickname
'god particle' leading to pivotal scenes of extreme non-science
in fiction?
