If We Shadows by Rob Wynne

This male spider god is more benevolent than his female Japanese counterpart. I like this story of Daina’s day off: An anonymous note, a bored girl, adventure ensues.

Mr. Wynne makes Daina’s journey interesting. The scene with Raoul jumps to life with convincing dialogue. The seductive male voice in the tomb—“Cat got your tongue?"—mystifies, not frightens. Voras is avuncular, not hostile. The brooch, with its design, reinforces that Daina is caught up in this relationship.

This is a monster story you can enjoy and recommend to your children and grandchildren.

Re: If We Shadows by Rob Wynne

Rob did exceptionally well making a creature who is usually just mysterious into something a bit scary!
Remember: when people tell you something’s wrong or doesn’t work for them, they are almost always right. When they tell you exactly what they think is wrong and how to fix it, they are almost always wrong. – Neil Gaiman
