Alien Vote by Robin B. Lipinski

First, you painted a historical view of the making of war in a short allegory. Whether the action takes place and we're dealing with aliens or we are the aliens to another species, the anatomy of war is the same. Poignant.

What I'm getting from this is that going to war is in our genetics and there is nothing we can do about it except prolong time until the next one.

I believe there is another possibility for hope, but your poetic story is true and well delivered.

You're a headliner this month!

Well at least they though about it first.

Hopefully it'll take 'em a while to get here.
I was raised by humans. What's your excuse?

Thanks Mark and thanks 'Aphelion staff' for putting up with this Robin B. Lipinski character.
Lester, methinks 'they' are already here and doing a splendid job of destruction.
In payment for posting I will pay with another poem dealing with destruction.

Trained well with the arts of war
Toys of youth being rocks and sticks
Remember?
Attacking the tree fort, taking prisoners, and torture with tuna fish sandwiches
or
Cowboys and Indian's with rubber arrows and cap guns.

Growing into a marvelous example of the warrior human species
Playing with atomic bombs and poisonous gas
with new social means of torture to include Facebook, twitter, and Fox news, CNN, Pravda
you know, the same old news?

Here is some news for this warrior species, some really good news!
War is coming today and tomorrow, war unlike any before
oh, there will be so much death and destruction
so much horror and pain
with billions of bones covering the plains...

In the meantime, watch the young humans practice with violent video games
tree forts and torture
rocks and sticks...
for this advanced species of monkeys, some things never change.

The Cost of War Unseen
By Mark Edgemon

There is a war beyond the barriers of time and space;
the unseen ruling the lives of the natural like chess pieces; laughing
without feeling the anguish of their decisions on us; again laughing.

Beastly, this force of demonic characters using human kindling to move through,
to act through; destroying the demon shells of others.

But, those of peace carry the sword of Truth and in contrast,
will not be averse to slicing the head off of any maniacal frenzied opponent;
conducting warfare beyond the reach of the carnal.

The will of man is a powerful weapon and can counteract the selfish will of others,
if...the person is committed to Truth; living it; demanding it, unrelenting.

Wake up, those in a perpetual living sleep; focus on the unseen that can be comprehended
with a conscious effort; with a willingness to face adveristy and overcome it...with cost.

Ah, the remark that annoys;
the selfishness in us that desires others to carry our banner,
and suffer loss
or exert effort in our stead.
Well then, if laziness is your enduring excuse...
...you're on your own.

This was a good one.
Remember: when people tell you something’s wrong or doesn’t work for them, they are almost always right. When they tell you exactly what they think is wrong and how to fix it, they are almost always wrong. – Neil Gaiman

They're AlreaDY hERE
bY mARK eDGEMON

It is nothing more than myth,
alien infestation beyond sight and sound,
infiltrating through human form,
controlling the destiny of our planet.
Their realm was not enough for their seed,
like conquerers of age past,
they invaded our time and space
in subtle forms and meandering ways,
they brought us into bondage
and fastened us strong with invisible fetters.
All we are to them is a commodity on the stock exchange,
human resources; usable; expendable when finished.
You're dead before you know it.

They don't care about you...
They don't care about you...
They don't care about you...

Too bad you didn't see the signs.
You'll see them now!

I loved the last one Mark and the inspiration.

They Control the Strings

Look into a mirror lately?
Beyond the pimples and stubble
Deep below the foundation
Look hard at what lays between your ears.

"I'm looking and all I see is perfection"
or
"I can't stand the way I look"

You didn't look hard enough as you only glimpse creation.

You said, "I'll do this today," and didn't
You said, "I'll lose weight today," and didn't
You say a lot such as, "I'm looking and all I see is perfection," or "I can't stand the way I look."

And yet you wonder?
Why?
How did what happen, happen?

Look deep inside.
Blood pumping.
Cells humping.
Bacteria on parade.

Viral infiltration.
Electro stimulation.
And yes, those lovely thoughts of sex.

The question then should be changed.
Not; have you looked into a mirror recently?
to
have you figured out who pulls the strings?

One of your strengths is the philosophical concepts that you often pose in simple layman's terms.

I liked, "have you figured out who pulls the strings?" meaning to me, that the person peering into the mirror has been controlled right along and hasn't been aware of it. That can be expanded to a full length story or epic poem. It is so true that we often don't know what controls us being an authoritative presence or besetting sin.

Puppet Regime
By Mark Edgemon

Inharmonic strings sounding in one accord,
rhythmically dancing to a master's touch
or plucked by a forceful hand
or ripped out of their setting by sinister intent.
Individuality is fine as long as the masses do it together,
at the same time - in the same way - and only by permission.
To conform to the rules and unto the the rule makers;
one doesn't need much intelligence to abdicate critical thought,
only the knowledge of how to run the machine, groom oneself
and never, ever lament your fate as a mindless slave.
