Stepping Into the Same River Twice by Richard Tornello

Nice little item which to me has quite an eastern philosophy ring to it. We all know what an ID does, I'm never magically going to wake up and become President Obama. But Richard's poem has a more serious edge in that when that ID was taken, mentally-emotionally he was "as he was". So let's say he goes to a tax office and shows his ID while getting a tax return done. But maybe in the meantime since that picture his entire family became very ill, and passed on. He could have gone off the deep end and then commit a crime, but 'as of when that picture was taken" he was "still a good citizen".
