Feast Before the Fast

This is a beautifully written story with a lovely, fluid style. It totally drew me in from the very first line and, normally, I am not a huge fan of the fantasy genre. Settings, characterisation and dialogue were all very well done.

My only niggle was the plot; it felt like a part of a much bigger story than a stand alone tale in itself.

However, I still rate this as my favourite in this months issue.
Doggerel is a derogatory term for verse considered of little literary value.

Re: Feast Before the Fast

It is, of course, a sequel to "Father Friday Cemetery".

Presumably, McCamy will revisit the island of Bonterre from time to time, when the spirit (nudge nudge, wink wink) moves her.
You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.

Mythical island kingdom of Boymere---derived from French for woods and sea.

Dammit, I know I've heard "Bonterre" somewhere... Anybody know where it might have come up?

:?
