Stranglehold by Albert Betzler

I'm not a fan of horror or supernatural stories, but I couldn't help admiring the workmanship in this one. Very well done all around, from plot, to dialog, to characterization, to setting. And I only noticed two typos in the whole thing.

Somewhat off-topic, and just FYI: there's an easy way to escape a frontal choke-hold. Put your hands together in front of your chest and drive them forcefully upward between the hands of your attacker. It will break your attacker's grip on your throat and leave you poised to strike downward against his head, ears, neck, or upper body as you choose.

Too bad it probably wouldn't have helped the victims in this story.

Good work!

Fascinating story. Very well written. I liked the introduction of a very different historical perspective. It was woven into the story line seemlessly. Very well balanced characterization.

To me a great story pulls you in and you feel a part of the story. This does just that.

Thanks for the welcome. I've been a lurker for quite sometime. The commentary on the stories here is often as fascinating as the stories themselves.

I agree! I learn everything I can from story comments.
