It's Awful, Either Way
By Andrew Kanago
In the author's own words: I was intrigued by the idea of the psychics who try to help the police solve kidnapping and murder cases. In this story, I imagined what a real psychic would be like, one that actually had a gift and what that gift would entail (and cost). By pairing the psychic with a high school outcast, I thought I might create a horror story that was also about how we connect as human beings.
The result was more banal and creepier than I'd intended.
I couldn't have said it better.
